Why aren’t certain things allowed in my skip?

We have always been proud of our ability to provide a local skip hire service to valued customers across Middlesbrough. Our aim is to ensure all waste is handled correctly and deliver skips at a reasonable price too. With larger sized modules for those heavy-duty construction jobs and smaller models for simple home removals, we have something to suit every occasion.

There are a plethora of rules in terms of what can and cannot be placed within skips. If the item can cause harm to people or the environment then it is not appropriate to place it in a skip. This means things like fridges, freezers, batteries, asbestos, tyres, fluorescent lights, paint, and chemicals all cannot be disposed of in this manner.

There are a number of other reasons why skip hire companies won’t accept specific items in their skips. This could include a lack of necessary facilities to dispose of or recycle a particular material. If they are unable to process it and are forced to send it elsewhere it may not be viable for the company to accept the item in the first place.

At L & C Skip Hire, we always advise our clients in Middlesbrough to only place those objects that are permitted into skips. If you are unsure of whether or not some of your rubbish is allowed in, get in touch and we’ll help you. We can provide a full list of what is and isn’t acceptable and also offer advise about the arrangements you need to make regarding items that need specialist disposal.

One thing we always urge clients is to be very careful when they come to sorting out waste and loading up a skip. There may be a tendency to just throw things in but it is important to make sure that every single item is suitable for disposal in this manner. On top of this the more care you take with loading the more items you are likely to be able to fit in the module.

Let us know if you need a skip or run into any trouble whilst you have one; we are always happy to offer assistance.
